Students Union General Election—You Are My Competitor as Well as My Teammate

Recently, IVY International School has successfully held a new students union general election. This election broke the previous “single election” mode; candidates could make a team by themselves and compete as a “group”. Candidate teams named“Infinite Charm” and “I2R”competed for more than 10 positions including president, vice-president, secretary,treasurer, campaign director and activity planner, etc.

The two groups of members made excellent speeches in fluent English and gave acomplete plan for the work of students union. Student Bonnie Bi, who was taking ACT exam in Korea, also made her campaign speech via video as one of the teammembers of “I2R”.

Inquestion-and-answer session, the contestants demonstrated themselves by wittyand humorous answers. Teachers Melanie, Catherine, Andy and students Zettaand  Calvin asked questions about student management, student activities, campus store management and so on.

After the fierce competition, public defense and impartial vote, “I2R” team won the election by 15 votes and became the new student union of Weihai IVY InternationalSchool.

FeiGao, the president of last student union, who was about to study Business in Universityof Adelaide, Australia, also came to the scene. She encouraged the new membersof student union to improve the services for students. Academic principalAquila Lee also encouraged everyone to support the work of new student unionwho should make their own contributions to the school and all the students.

Whatyou see is “P=I2R”, but what we shoulddo is: Power（力量）= Intelligence（智慧）+Innovation（創(chuàng)新）+Respect（尊重）
