Cynthia Xue：Independent study and critical thinking

In April 2018, while most high school students were still fighting for the college entrance examination, Cynthia had already got offers from three world famous universities, King's College London, Manchester University and Edinburgh University.

In Ivy, learning is more fulfilling.

Three years ago, under thorough consideration Cynthia chose Ivy International School, which is close to home,. At that time, her goal of studying was an overseas famous school, so she selected an international school that was more conducive to studying abroad. When she came to Ivy, Cynthia really began to get in touch with the pure English classroom. Her English level quickly improved and she was more and more motivated to learn English.

Like many adolescent children, Cynthia has been confused, but under the guidance of IVY teachers, she gradually became clear and more and more confident. Cynthia said that the difference between Ivy and public schools is that the relationship with teachers is more intimate. It is more like friends than teachers. In the process of learning and activities with foreign teachers, she also learned about different customs and cultures in many countries.

Learning to arrange time properly is a prerequisite for enriching study. Cynthia said: "The life of the third year is the most fulfilling. After completing the homework on time, I will spend more time studying, highlighting knowledge points from the book; thinking deeply and making myself progress. In the three-year high school study, Cynthia decided to continue to improve her language skills in order to adapt to and integrate into foreign life in the future. In addition to communicating with foreign teachers in school and improving her speaking ability, she also used her spare time to read English. The novels, English movies, English songs all help her accumulate vocabulary, and moreover she regularly reviewed, expanded the vocabulary, made her learning life more fulfilling

In Ivy, life is more colorful

When Cynthia came to Ivy League International School, she felt the activity and richness of study and life here. It is very beneficial to study abroad and improve herself through rich activities. Cynthia said: "I have sign up a badminton club at school, and later I have participated in sailing clubs and swimming clubs. Then I usually have violins and taekwondo. The various hobbies will make the interviewer more interested in you when it comes to application for the prestigious school. Sub-items, more interest in learning and in-depth study will be very helpful for applying to the university."

When talking about what impressed her in Ivy, Cynthia’s face burst into a big smile, she said, “There are a lot of impressive experiences in IVY, for example, in activities like sports day, as the student club's event planner, I helped design the event, planned the location, time, itinerary, route and activity content. Through this design, I got a lot of exercise and better planning ability. So the planning of these sports days became a very memorable experience in IVY life. It has also made my after-school life rich and colorful.” Ivy has built many platforms to give each student the opportunity to show themselves and grow up, so that they can apply for an interview through future study abroad. .

Ivy let me learn to explore and think

Looking back on the three years of Ivy's study and life, Cynthia described it ‘happy and fulfilled. ’’Because IVY gives me time and opportunity to think.  In my daily study, I have more time to study and explore my favorite subjects, and feel free to gallop in the ocean of knowledge.’

Cynthia is very grateful to the teachers for their help in all aspects. She is grateful to the teacher for treating her like a friend. These “offers” have made her happy to study in high school. In addition, Cynthia made a suggestion to students who could not master the learning method very well. "We must ask more questions, which is very important for upgrading and consolidating knowledge."

Finally, Cynthia puts forward the following suggestions for her schoolmates through her own real learning experience, in terms of high school study and study preparation:

First, we must clearly define our goals and make reasonable plans. We will not ruin every day in IVY;

Second, we must learn actively, learn to arrange time reasonably, and prevent the occurrence of procrastination;

Third, learning is not about learning much, but about knowing and really understanding, exploring and researching;

Finally, to prepare for integration into foreign life in advance, Westerners are more rational and accustomed to doing things according to the rules. They should use the time in IVY, learn to use Western thinking methods, and correctly respond to and solve problems from the perspective of Westerners.
