Felicia Lin: "Super Scholar" with Super Executive PowerFelicia Lin, Weihai IVY International School 2018 graduate. Felicia Lin, who is recognized by all students in the school as the "Super Scholar", has so far got the offer from Durham University and taken the interview from Brown University. Three years of study life in IVY, three years of youth, who knows how much sweat, persistence and smile she had? Let's just open the certificate of honor together and enter the world of Felicia, who is about to become a freshman at Durham University! Make Sure What You Want Felicia: I was obsessed with studying abroad in a famous university when I just came to Weihai IVY. Study was the most important thing for me. My life must be useless if I could not obtain high scores, however, I discovered various kinds of activities in IVY, and I found that apart from learning, I can also enjoy my high school life. I played the piano and participated in club activities after class. There are many clubs in our school, sometimes we take part in archery and even grow vegetables. I also established a community about environmental protection, named “Eco-Rep Club”. We are improving soil quality currently, and it is interesting because it’s related to biochemistry. Excellent or super scholar? I think... Q: What are your greatest strengths compared with other peers? Felicia: I think my strength is absorbability. I can understand the contents taught by teachers immediately in class, however, my shortcoming is I would forget it quickly and I have to review and consolidate the contents after class. Q: Many students call you “super scholar”. They believe that you are the representative of excellent students in IVY. What do you think of ‘excellent’ and ‘ super scholar’? Felicia: I think different students have different definitions on “excellent”. From my perspective, excellent should not be limited to scores only. Therefore, it is not proper to define “super scholar” as “excellent”. For example, I am always in the second place of the speech contest each year which demonstrates many students are better than me. Felicia In the Eyes of Her Classmates: Excellent “OCD” Jimmy: I think Felicia is a very helpful and open-minded classmate. What impressed me most was that she won the second place in the last speech contest, but she cried. In fact, she attached great importance to all competitions. She is very competitive, and I admire her very much. Being competitive will motivate her to become a better person. I need to learn from her. Godwin: I think Felicia is a very intellectual and studious student. I usually see her studying or reading books at 7 o’clock every morning. She is very diligent and absorbed in learning. What impressed me most was that she founded the “Eco-Rep Club”-- an environmental protection club. I admire her very much since she can put her ideas into action. She said she wanted to move a ship to campus, plant flowers and grass, study soil and even grow vegetables. I thought it was unrealistic, but she has really strong executive power. You see, now that's all done. Enrollment into Durham University With the Grade of A+ Q: What is your favorite A-level subject? Felicia: I chose chemistry as my major in university, but actually I prefer math. Even if sometimes mathematical theory is kind of obscure and hard to understand, whatever A-level subjects you study, math is the basic and essential skill.
