6 People Including New Zealand Timaru Mayor Visited Our SchoolOn the afternoon of June 26, mayor of Timaru port city in southern New Zealand Mr. Damon Odey, former mayor of Ms. Janie Annear, speaker of the house of Mr. Steve Wills, education department officer Ms. Ginny Vincent and Ms. Bronwyn Hargreaves visited Weihai Ivy International School.
Timaru Mayor Mr. Damon Odey expressed the gratitude for the warm reception of Ivy International School and gave high praise to our educational philosophy, teaching achievements, international exchanges and cooperation, etc. He mentioned that New Zealand was the first country that signed a bilateral access to WTO with China and China also was one of New Zealand’s largest trading partners; thus, oversea students China and New Zealand who knew more about the two countries needed to act as the bridge of mutual communication.
This year is the 16th anniversary that Weihai and Timaru concluded as sister city. Timaru, as the sister city of Weihai, has always maintained friendly international exchanges and international cooperation and mutual promotions in many aspects with Weihai. Mr. Damon Odey hoped that more and more outstanding students from Weihai Ivy International School could learn live in Timaru in the future, and explore their respective advantages in more fields with the local school, recommend excellent students and teachers to study abroad and visit each other, and conduct in-depth exchanges in education, culture, and academic skills.
