SMT Stanford University Mathematics Tournament

SMT Stanford University Mathematics Tournament worldwide is an annual high school mathematics tournament at Stanford, aiming to provide challenging problems for students around the world, happy cooperation opportunity to inspire and cultivate student’s interests in math. SMT sponsored by the math department at Stanford, is most influential and famous universities at science and engineering recognition of the highest high school math competition. It has 16 years history. Every year, they invite the national and excellent teams for high school students from all over the world. Only the invited teams are to qualify for the match.

SMT Stanford university mathematics tournament was held in Beijing on 23, 24 of August. There were 8 students who represented our school. It was a two day intense competition, group strength, personal algebra and geometry course and a series of match.

Recently, the result from SMT Stanford mathematics competition was published. Our school team placed 31st   out of 70 international schools with more than 100 teams, more than 750 students attending the competition. To name a few of the schools who attended, they were High School of National People’s Congress, Tsinghua Fuzhong, Shenzhen International Exchange School, and Changsha Yali Middle School. Eric Lee and Eleanor got no.23 and no.71 for single competition, respectively.
